SACO Holborn is delighted to welcome a new neighbour onto Lamb’s Conduit St; The People’s Supermarket.
The People’s Supermarket opens on 1st June and looks set to be the shape of supermarkets to come. Led by Arthur Potts Dawson, a founder of the Acorn House chain of social enterprise restaurants in London and a key member of the team that created Jamie Oliver’s ‘Fifteen,’ Arthur is aiming to change the way people shop by opening The People’s Supermarket as a not-for-profit co-operative, simply meaning that the shop will be ran by its members voluntarily; ran by the people, for the people! The produce in store will all be sourced locally, fantastically fresh and low priced. Arthur, a chef by trade will also be cooking up some tasty treats in the shop itself – now it’s not every day you can buy freshly cooked food from an award winning chef in your local supermarket!
It’s an exciting time for Lamb’s Conduit Street and SACO is pleased to be affiliated with such a revolutionary project. To show our support, we at SACO are becoming members, the contents of the SACO Holborn welcome packs will be supplied by The People’s Supermarket and we’re urging all our guests to shop there whilst staying at SACO Holborn and looking to cook up a storm in their apartment kitchen!
Channel 4 have followed the progress of The People’s Supermarket in a four-part series all about Lamb’s Conduit St, this is due to be aired in later in the year – look out for SACO Holborn!
If you’d like more information about the store or find out how to become a member, then please visit www.peoplessupermarket.org for more details.
Opening hours will be 8am – 8pm from 1st June.
