A day in the life of a Canary Wharf serviced apartment
The owners of Canary Wharf's first and highest tower block, One Canada square, came under fire from energy campaigners who claimed that the building was one of the UK's worst offenders at leaving the lights on all night.
What these complainants did not realise is that in the world of financial services, where many Canary Wharf workers are employed, work often goes on around the clock!
There may be no typical workday for the workers and residents of our Canary Wharf serviced apartments. This part of London is a hotbed of the work-hard, play hard philosophy, which makes for an interesting 'day in the life' for our serviced apartments on Westferry Road…
Midnight to 6am
It's just gone 12:00 a.m. and some workers are heading back to their Canary Wharf serviced apartments after a long stint at the office.
Others arrive home in the small hours, having been enjoying the bars, restaurants and entertainment opportunities that the Canary Wharf development now provides, or having headed home on the Jubilee line to the nearby Canary Wharf tube station. They'll enjoy the tranquil view from their apartment across the Thames before heading off for a comfortable night's sleep.
But it's not long after this that some residents are rising early to check news and e-mails before making themselves a quick coffee and breakfast in their apartment's well-equipped kitchen.
6am to midday
Those that enjoy a more leisurely 9am start time are having relaxing showers at their serviced apartments and perhaps popping to the nearby shops before walking to their offices.
Meanwhile, residents at the end of their serviced apartment stays are checking out and perhaps booking the dates for their next spell at their company's London offices.
Midday to 6pm
SACO's Canary Wharf serviced apartments are a hive of activity as some residents pop back for lunch in their own kitchen, others work from the comfort of their living room on high speed broadband connections, and still others are getting ready for an early evening visit to the gym or the squash courts.
6pm to midnight
First-time visitors are sometimes surprised to find that Canary Wharf offers more than just a place to work. In the evenings, our apartment residents make the most of great entertainment, dining and shopping on their doorstep.
Or, just as conveniently, many are enjoying a night in just as if they were truly at home: cooking for themselves in our apartments' highly-specced kitchens, doing laundry, and relaxing in their living room space with TV and a glass of wine.
