Not all serviced apartments are equal.
For starters, there's the space issue. A studio apartment might be well appointed, but if you're there for a reasonable length of stay it can soon become just as claustrophobic as a hotel room — particularly if there's more than one of you sharing.
Storage space is part of that. An interior that looks great at first glance might turn out to have very little room to stow away your belongings. What space you thought you had could soon be crowded with clutter.
Then there's the kitchen. It seems that some serviced accommodation providers assume that their guests are uninterested in cooking for themselves. After all, it's not uncommon to be provided with little more than a few square feet of worktop, a sink, a microwave and perhaps a small cooker or hob. As for the contents of the cupboards and drawers, you can expect many serviced apartments to provide only a knife and chopping board, the most basic pans and utensils, and not much else.
Check out the appliances, too: is that a washing machine, or a washer-dryer? If the former, where will you hang out your laundry? Is washing powder or liquid provided or will that be another thing for your packing list?
