The National Accessible Scheme (NAS) is one of the most widely accepted ways of improving access and quality. Recently, SACO Bath, SACO Manchester and SACO @ Livingbase have successfully been assessed and graded Level 1 for Hearing, Visual and Mobility Impairment.

This means that SACO Bath, SACO Manchester and SACO @ Livingbase are more accessible to guests with impairments, and can also ensure that their allocated apartment/s is best suited to individual needs. Below highlights the specific actions that have been carried out at SACO Bath, SACO Manchester and SACO @ Livingbase to achieve a Level 1 grading for Hearing, Visual and Mobility Impairment.

Hearing Level 1 - The locations provide vibrating pads for fire alarms, vibrating clocks, loop inductor, clear lighting to aid lip reading and telephones with flashing lights.

Visual Level 1 - The locations provide all collateral in 14 font on yellow paper, along with big button telephones, big button remote controls, tactile markings on taps and electrical applicances and the choice of seating with arms is also available.

Mobility Level 1 - This is the most complex and applies to guests that find it difficult to walk, and to the walking wounded.  The above locations have had bars put in the bathrooms to make it easier to navigate around as well as inserting calling points in the bathrooms. All of the bins have been changed to flip lids, the heights of beds have tactile signs and door openings width are at 670mm.
