Eat, drink and be merry at Bath Christmas Market 2018!

Thursday 04 October 2018 by Kayleigh Little

It’s almost that time of year again; for the locals it’s just another year of tradition but for those travelling far and wide it’s an exciting attraction not to be missed. Of course, we’re talking about the Bath Christmas Market - and this year it’s back and bigger than ever.

Immerse yourself in Somerset’s award-winning Winter Wonderland this festive season as you take part in all things Christmassy, whether that’s drinking mulled wine or eating mince pies. The old streets through the centre of Bath magically transform themselves once again this year, into a flurry of wooden stalls and fairy lights, from Thursday 22nd November – Sunday 9th December. Over 225 local and regional businesses came to showcase their products last year to around 409,000 guests who spent an estimated £10.7 million on local products. It’s no wonder it’s often referred to as one of the biggest (and best!) Christmas markets in the UK!  If you’ve already experienced the unique buzz of this popular attraction, then you know what to expect. But for those who haven’t… where have you been?

Due to its growing popularity since  launch, the Markets were stretched out last yearto cover Southgate Street, Union Street and Hot Bath Street as well as their usual location in the centre. Event organisers have already stated that, because of the success of their expanded layout last year, the stalls have been proposed to grow once more, also covering Milsom Street this time around.

Present-buying certainly won’t be a struggle if you visit the market, as each stall has its own brilliantly unique, high-quality and thoughtful gifts perfect for friends, grandparents, in-laws, children and even pets! For him, you’ll find a great selection of cured meats, cider and sheepskin products. Alternatively, for her you can find beautiful jewellery, cocktail bitter made locally, luxurious winter accessories and handmade scented candles. Shopping for someone furry? Your four-legged friend will love a hamper of gourmet doggy treats or specialist grooming products – nobody will be left out! Often the goodies on offer from the stalls are locally sourced and made, making the gift all the more special.

Bath is the perfect choice of location to indulge in a spot of Christmas shopping thanks to the convenient location of high street shops and independent boutiques all located within close proximity of each other. Don’t miss an opportunity to admire some of the city’s various unique historic sites whilst you visit, including Bath Abbey and the Roman Baths. There really couldn’t be a better suited venue for a Christmas Market anywhere else in the UK.

Why not book a stay at SACO Bath – St James’s Parade? Then once shopping is done and you’re ready to warm up, you can stroll back to your own apartment without having to worry about finding a taxi ride home. You can even do some sightseeing whilst you’re there!
