Five cities and five experiences perfect for Valentine’s Day

Thursday 08 February 2018 by Jessica Mendoza Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and if you want to make it as special as possible for your loved one, then we’ve done some of the planning for you. Here’s some of the most romantic treats for the special day, in cities near you…

London

Forget Paris, London is the city of lovers for 2018. There’s nothing better than impressing your date this Valentine’s day with panoramic views of London during a romantic candlelit dinner. Or is dinner a little too mainstream for you? Catch a West End show, take a stroll along the Thames, embrace the atmosphere of the local pubs or soak up the history and culture of The Big Smoke. Whatever your preference, London has plenty of experiences on offer to make it memorable and romantic.

Our top pick? Candlelit dinner at Clos Maggiore. Dreamy romance with French savoir faire in Covent Garden.

Amsterdam

Amsterdam is absolutely underappreciated in terms of romantic city breaks – and it’s perhaps a little more low-maintenance than your standard Valentine’s treat. Peace and quiet can be found by simply strolling along the waterways that intertwine throughout the city. Or perhaps indulge in a dreamy canal cruise against the backdrop of the city - undoubtedly something magical and relaxing for you and your date. Whether you’re an early bird who likes to explore during the quiet mornings, or a night owl that prefers to watch the sun set - it doesn’t matter. You’ll constantly feel weak at the knees.

Our top pick? Valentine Candlelight Cruise, Amsterdam. Take a special cruise through the illuminated Amsterdam canals. Delicious wines and snacks are included, and the flickering candlelight sparks the romance.

Edinburgh

This vibrant city is perfect, whether you’re looking for a special meal or a unique adventure. The history, the quirky side streets, the unique shops and friendly locals – what’s not to love? And if your other half is a Harry Potter fan, it really is THE city to while away the time and explore on foot.

Our top pick? “An Evening with the Stars” at the Planetarium. Experience a range of romantic, starry events under the finest dark skies, with you and your loved one. Nothing sounds more perfect.

An Evening with the Stars, Royal Observatory Greenwich.

Bath

As one of the most romantic cities in the UK, there’s no shortage of different things to do for couples in Bath. Whether you’re an active couple, prefer a relaxing day in the spa, or maybe you just want to unwind and enjoy each other’s company, this city leaves you free to do whatever you dream.

Our top pick? The Thermae Bath Spa. The rooftop provides beautiful views over Bath especially during the late evening. And if it’s a bit chilly, you can always warm up and snuggle next to your partner in the lovely heated pool.

Manchester

There’s lots of fun to be had for two in Manchester - whether it’s a cosy breakfast, a cocktail night or a romantic stroll, you’re guaranteed to find something magical this romantic city.

Our top pick?  Dine under the trees at M or Tattu’s. No, not outside. Dinner under cascading flower walls or four metre high cherry blossom trees won’t be topped!

Mr Coopers House and Garden or Tattu’s.
