Where to eat in Derby

Enjoy a great range of British, Mexican, French, Indian and many more worldwide cuisines in many of the city’s popular districts such as Friargate and Cathedral Quarter. We’ve created this guide to give you a few recommendations of our own that we urge you to try during your stay in Derby.

Where to eat

The Wonky Table is a new café/bar restaurant in the city, hosting a menu that changes regularly, using the freshest local ingredients to create gourmet dishes. Come and enjoy a cosy yet quirky ambience and enjoy vibrant and flavoursome food from owners who are passionate about providing a personal and friendly service.

Located in the picturesque Cathedral Quarter, Jack Rabbits is a deli, kitchen, grocer and café all in one – bringing you delicious homemade AGA cooked food for you to enjoy. Try the Traditional Ploughmans Platter or the Toasted Fig Loaf, or perhaps the Antipasti Cured Meats and Cheese Platter; whatever you choose, be sure to leave room for the scrumptious desserts!

Mexico is a friendly, traditional restaurant serving Mexican and North American dishes like Burritos, Enchiladas, Fajitas and Chorizo Cassoulet, with chilli ratings to ensure you’re not surprised by your dish! Relax in the cosy, candle-lit yet Mexican themed surroundings and then proceed to the Tequileria to enjoy an impressive range of world Tequila’s and Mexican Beers.

Positioned in Derby’s social hub Friargate, in a beautiful historic 1600s building, Le Bistrot Pierre is a charming and informal restaurant managed by a man who is extremely passionate about the food and service here, having started as a waiter; not to mention, Executive Chef Ajay regularly travels to France in discovery of new recipes and ingredients!
