SACO Runs the Great Bristol 10KWednesday 18 May 2016 by Sam Moore Here at SACO we’ve been running the Great Bristol 10K for four years in aid of our chosen charity the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT). And this year was no exception with a bumper team of 20 SACO runners taking on the gruelling ten kilometre challenge alongside 12,000 other runners from all over the country.
The scenic route starts in Bristol’s beautiful Harbourside, just a stone’s throw from our Broad Quay apartments, before winding round to the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, traversing out to Spike Island and then returning to the city centre for the finish. This daunting challenge was hardly made easier by the scorching conditions with high temperatures causing many a runner to pull out, however our intrepid team all persevered and reached the finish, with a special mention going out to Nottingham’s Andrew Meikle for his mightily impressive time of 43:25.
Personal glory aside, the reason for all the blood sweat and tears was to raise money for our chosen charity TCT, and a special thank you to everyone who cheered us on, bought a cake, donated and joined in our other fundraising events! Our current total stands at over £1300, but it’s not too late to donate – if you’d like to make a contribution please follow the link here.
All in all, the event was a great success, worth all the pain and effort to help a truly worthwhile cause. Bring on 2017!
