The Wittenberg Team recently arranged and held a very successful event, which was created for travellers interested in learning more about setting up new businesses and living in Amsterdam. It was fantastic to have two guest speakers working with us: Myranda Leeuwen from The Wise Expat; and Theo Koper from Independent Expat Finance. Throughout the evening we explored the very relevant topics of financial peace of mind, the Dutch education system and key things to bear in mind when thinking about setting up and running your own business. All vital information for those looking to start a new “Dutch life.”
Sitting in the spacious Glass House lounge area of the Wittenberg aparthotel – it was easy for attendees to imagine that they were already fully immersed in Amsterdam life and enjoying everything that this cool, stylish and vibrant city has to offer. Especially when the Wittenberg Team started to serve up some typical Dutch snacks such as pickled herring – which everyone seemed to enjoy.
Some of the key learnings where:
- Primary schooling is for ages four to 12
- There are waiting lists for Dutch International Schools (AICS)
- Dutch Public Schools include – Montessori, Steiner and Dalton
- Apparently anyone can open a school in Amsterdam…
The event had all the components of a fantastic networking evening - it was informative, interesting, relaxing and of course, included the perfect amount of drinks and nibbles. We are looking forward to running the next one.
So, whether you’re staying at Wittenberg or simply passing by, please come inside to find out when the next event is, or perhaps even chat to the team about holding one of your own.
Wittenberg is a haven for travellers seeking a second home.
