Treat yourself: go Club when you stay in ManchesterTuesday 26 August 2014 by Vicci Hollies WOW – this is my apartment for the night?
As I opened the door to my Club Apartment on the 5th floor of the SACO aparthotel in Manchester, the sunlight danced across the floor, waved in by a gentle breeze through the big loft windows. Perfect.
“Why not treat yourself and go club when you visit Manchester”… the marketing blurb had enticed. So I did, and I can confirm it was a real treat and terrific value.
Having taken advantage of the early check- in (part of the Club Apartment package), I took my time to unpack and familiarise myself with my impressive one bedroom apartment. Each loft window gave a different urban view and perspective and I could hear the familiar sounds of the city below, but felt I was tucked away safely up high. A quick test of the bed and I almost wished it was night time already. Lovely crisp white bed linen and a mattress that was firm, but soft and very inviting. A quick peek into the spacious bathroom to see the L’Occitane bathing products neatly lined up – very promising.
Time for some refreshment, I headed for the apartment kitchen where I deliberated over a cup of tea or coffee, finally settling on a lovely coffee made in the Sega Fredo coffee machine. Delicious, even more so as there were some Marshfield Bakery goodies to accompany it. Sitting on the sofa, I gazed around the living room admiring the Manchester inspired artwork and took time to read the Guest Information folder which explained how to operate all the appliances in the apartment (think dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc.) and some great suggestions for things to do and where to eat in the nearby area.
Inspired, I headed out for dinner and a movie, but could have easily spent a night-in preparing my own dinner with a glass or two of wine whilst surfing all the Sky channels freely available on the TV. Next time!
Coming home late at 11pm (well, by my standards ), it was great to see a member of the friendly onsite reception team at the front desk and have a quick chat before heading up to bed. Sleep came easily and I can report that the bed lived up to its earlier promising expectations.
The next morning I pottered around the apartment, wrapped up in the lovely soft fluffy bathrobe (conveniently found hanging on the back of the bathroom door) – having breakfast which I made from the bumper welcome hamper that was provided upon arrival. I relaxed as I caught up on emails and dipped in and out of the BBC news.
Finally, I gathered my belongings, packed and took a final lingering look around my lovely Club Apartment – I was sorry to close my door and check out.
