There is plenty to enjoy in this historic city, whether you’re visiting for business or for leisure with friends, family or a loved, so take a look at our guide for some top tips on what to see and do during your stay!

Want to occupy the kids?

Edinburgh Zoo will provide a whole day of entertainment for children and adults alike – with hundreds of exciting animals and interactive events for everyone to take part in. Embark on a safari ride, encounter unusual species at the activity centre and get up close with penguins!

The Edinburgh Dungeon is a sister of the London version, where actors take you on a journey through Scotland’s dark history, revealing scary secrets of the past - if you dare!

Enjoy nature and the outdoors?

Edinburgh is well renowned as a 'green city' and it sure does live up to that name with an abundance of picturesque parks close to the city. Hollyrood Park has been a Royal Park since the 12th century encompassing an extinct volcano that provides breathtaking panoramic views.

The Royal Botcanical Gardens boasts 70 acres of beautiful gardens, plants and flowers that are preened to the highest standard; perfect for a relaxing stroll.

A bit of culture?

Edinburgh Castle stands tall and prominent above the city and is a distinct landmark of the Scottish capital that captures the eye of any camera-owner. Listen out for the One O’clock gun that is fired every day and has done so since 1861!

This castle is the life and soul of Edinburgh’s culture, but there are so many more beautiful castles worth visiting – Craigmillar Castle, Dirleton Castle, Tantallon Castle, and plenty more!

An evening of entertainment?

There are seven theatres located in and around Edinburgh, so why not see what shows are on during your visit and enjoy an evening of music, comedy or drama? Many of these venues host West End musicals as well as operas and ballet.
