What to do in South Bank

Wednesday 17 December 2014 by Leila Wright South Bank is a popular location for business travellers, but is also closer than you might think to the sights and attractions of the big city.

Getting Around

Vauxhall lies on the Victoria Line of the London Underground, just a few stops from Oxford Circus, Green Park and Piccadilly Circus. Waterloo is on the Jubilee, Northern and Bakerloo Line, providing excellent and efficient access to many locations throughout the city - it is also served by National Rail, making it a great hub for visitors to London.

Things to see and do

Tate Britain is the sister gallery of Tate Modern and is on the northern side of Vauxhall Bridge, just a 10 minute walk away from SACO @ St George Wharf. Come and admire a fantastic range of art forms that date from 1500 to the present day.

If it’s shopping you’re after, Pimlico Road is a unique village of boutique and independent retailers that stems off from Sloane Square. A great lifestyle destination, you’ll find luxury interior design stores, prestigious jewellers, upmarket fashion shops, plus award-winning restaurants, bars, patisseries and chocolatiers.

Westminster Abbey is rich in culture, dating back more than a thousand years, and is architecturally stunning - you may remember Prince William and Kate’s wedding was held, and broadcast, here in 2011!

Keeping with the royal theme, Buckingham Palace is situated across Vauxhall bridge, a short walk from Victoria Station. Home to the Royal Family, its presence behind the imposing fountains of the roundabout is magnificent – an iconic landmark and a must-see on your visit!

Hyde Park, just a short tube ride away, has more than 350 acres of landscape – great for walks, picnics and relaxing, away from the hustle and bustle of the city. You may recognise the lake from the London 2012 Olympics – it was used for sections of the Triathlon and Marathon events!
