What to do in West London

London’s efficient underground service makes it very easy to get around and explore the city, so we’ve created this guide to give you some great ideas on what to see and do whilst you're here.

Events for business and leisure?

Earls Court is a venue that hosts great events throughout the year. If you’re visiting for leisure, you could enjoy a day at events such as The Good Food Show 2012, Who Do You Think You Are? Live, The National Wedding Show and even watch live music acts such as Bloc Party and Example. For those visiting on business, you won’t have far to travel from your apartment if you’re attending shows such as the Business Travel Show, Telegraph Adventure Travel Show and Pulse 2013.

After a bit of culture?

Take a trip to South Kensington, in the heart of West London, and you can spend hours exploring three of London’s best loved museums, all within minutes’ walking distance of each other.

The famous Victoria & Albert Museum boasts a huge collection of art in the forms of ceramics, sculptures, paintings, architecture, fashion, dance and much more.

The National Science Museum is great for entertaining the kids; it has excellent interactive facilities encouraging children to learn, plus you can visit X theatre on the fifth floor and watch one of the many 3D documentaries exploring the wonders of science.

The National History Museum displays fascinating collections and stories about the natural creations of our extraordinary planet. From butterflies to beetles, discover the amazing diversity of life that has evolved on our planet.

Like the outdoors?

Head to Hyde Park, a 270 acre picturesque landscaped park located in the centre of London. You could enjoy a scenic run around here in spring, a picnic with friends in the summer, a stroll through the colourful trees in autumn or fun at the magical Christmas Wonderland in winter. Whatever time of year you’re visiting, this large green space provides a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Shopping your thing?

If so, you cannot visit London and miss out on a trip to Harrods, the iconic upmarket department store located in prestigious Knightsbridge. Browse the stores huge selection of clothing and handbags, as well as a whole floor dedicated to children’s toys and a fantastic gourmet food hall.

For a more authentic shopping experience, then you’ll enjoy the trendy Portobello Market in Notting Hill. It is one of the most talked about markets in London; you could even go so far as to say that it is internationally renowned. Stretching 2 miles long, the eclectic range market stalls on offer here sell everything from boutique clothing and handmade gifts to beautiful antiques and even world cuisine!
