What's on in BathMonday 05 January 2015 by Maya Singer Hobbs Bath is a city so rich in culture that you’ll never be short of things to do here, so how about enjoying many of the city’s iconic landmarks through events that embrace its heritage? Over the coming months, there are an abundance of festivals and events taking place, so take a look below to find out more.
What's on in Bath
12th – 17th January, Regent’s Park Theatre
Based on the novel by Harper Lee, and adapted by Christopher Sergel, this moving productions is not one to be missed.
14th February, Chapel Arts Centre
An alternative to a romantic meal on Valentine’s day, this energetic six piece band will have you dancing all night long! Their style is hard to pin down, swing/ska/boogie/jive, whatever they are, you’re sure to come away with a grin on your face!
27th February – 8th March, various venues around Bath
For its’ 20th Anniversary, the Independent Bath Literature Festival is pulling out all the stops. With over 200 authors from all over the world, some of whom were at the original event 20 years ago, the program is varied and exciting, including events for children.
1st March, around Bath
Dust off those running shoes and sign up for the Bath Half Marathon! Join over ten thousand other runners making their way around the course that takes in many of the iconic Bath sights on the way. If running isn’t for you, the runners always appreciate spectator support, and there are a number of fantastic viewing points around the course.
21st – 29th March, various locations around Bath
As Bath itself is one of the most fashionable cities in the UK, it makes sense that Bath in Fashion is one of the most prestigious fashion events outside of London. With a mixture of events including catwalks, talks by leading figures in fashion and various workshops, this is not to be missed just for those with an interest in fashion.
27th March – 6th April, Sussex Place
Now in its 7th year, the Bath Comedy Festival is sure to be funnier and larger than ever. With a vibrant mix of comedy, including stand-up, street theatre, film, art, music, workshops and others, there is sure to be something to get even the most miserable among us smiling. There is also a focus on encouraging new performers and “young hopefuls” via the New Act Competition, and events suitable for children.
Every Saturday 9am – 1.30pm, Green Park
Pop along to the Bath Farmers Market to pick up some fresh, locally produced goods, sold by the people who produced them. Including award-winning cheeses, fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, savoury dishes and lots of cakes, it’s the perfect place to shop, or just to get lunch!
