1st November - 28th February 2015, Canada Square Park
Not only is the ice rink at Canary Wharf one of the largest outdoor rinks in London this year, it also features London’s first skate path, taking skaters on a fairy-light lit tour under trees before looping back onto the main rink. The onsite restaurant and bar, along with an outdoor viewing platform, allows non-skaters to be involved in the fun as well!
Elvis at The O2: The Exhibition of His Life
12th December – 31st August 2015, The O2
Showcasing over 300 artefacts from the Graceland Archives, this retrospective of Elvis Presley’s life gives an insight into his life, his music and how Elvis himself impacted popular culture.
9th – 11th January throughout Canary Wharf
With the festivities over, winter nights once again become cold and dark. However, in Canary Wharf the Winter Lights Festival presents an alternative. Featuring sculptures, projections, lasers and digital art, produced by over 11 artists from 9 countries, a walk around Canary Wharf is sure to banish those winter blues. Family friendly and free.
Bolshoi Ballet Live: Swan Lake
25th January, Cineworld West India Quay
Swan Lake, performed by the world renowned Bolshoi ballet, is broadcast live from Moscow, Russia. Choreographed by Yuri Grigorovich and set to Tchaikovsky’s lyrical score this is sure to moving and spectacular.
23rd – 27th March, East Wintergarden
Once again London’s East Wintergarden hosts the Professional Squash Association Canary Wharf Squash Classic. After five sell-out years this one is sure to be a success, and not to be missed.
As ever, the O2 has an impressive line-up this season, and something for everyone, including Ennio Morricone, Lionel Richie, Nicki Minaj and the amazing Fleetwood Mac, to name but a few. Throughout Canary Wharf
Canary Wharf has one of the UK’s largest collections of Public Art, with over 65 pieces of art and sculpture. As well as the static pieces, there are a number of exhibitions throughout the year. Talking Statues is a project where statues are animated by writers and actors, after swiping your phone on a tag, you get a phone call from “the statue”. “Couple on a Seat” is Canary Wharf’s Talking Statue and offers a comedic view on married life, performed by Meera Syal and Sanjeev Bhaskar and written by Nikesh Shukla.
