The Doctor Who Experience
Throughout the year at Cardiff Bay
Go on an interactive journey through time and space and discover the history behind the infamous Doctor. A must see for any Doctor Who fans as you can experience first-hand the various worlds and Doctors that have appeared in the show and see real costumes.
Welsh National Opera: Hansel and Gretel
21st February – 27th February, Wales Millenium Centre
If you’re expecting a children’s fairytale, this is not the show for you. Dark and complex, this opera examines some of the slightly less pleasant themes underneath this well-known story – hunger, gluttony and cannibalism, but all performed in a rich, and at times comic, style that will cast a spell over audiences.
Maurice Marinot: A Passion for Glass
20th December – 7th June 2015, National Museum Cardiff
Maurice Marinot was one of the first artists to use glass as a studio art form. His glass work is experimental, using brightly coloured enamels to creating striking pieces of work. This exhibition brings together work from a number of collections and is the first time the work has been displayed together since the 1960s.
St David’s Day Celebrations and Parade
1st March, throughout the city
Come and help the Welsh celebrate their national day on the 1st March. Help wave Welsh flags or wear a daffodil as you dance through the streets with the rest of the carnival. Expect music, folk dancing, dragons and much more!
21st March, National Museum Cardiff
In celebration of National Science and Engineering Week, the National Museum of Cardiff is hosting a Family Science Day. Meet scientists and discover some of the artefacts in the collections, as well as going behind the scenes in a special guided tour.
Cardiff 17th – 19th April, Bute Park
Now in its’ 11th year, the RHS Flower Show Cardiff is the perfect destination for those wanting some inspiration for the start of the spring gardening season. With talks and advice from leading nursery specialists, over 40 nurseries exhibiting, illustrations from degree students and much more, this is the perfect spring weekend out.
8th March – George Thomas Hospice Care 5km Fun Run: Charity run around Bute Park.
15th March – Dragon 10K: A new 10km race for 2015 around Bute Park and Pontcanna Park.
Put on those running shoes and get training! Both runs are open to people of all abilities and Bute Park provides a beautiful backdrop to train in.
