Since May 2013, SACO the Serviced Apartment Company have been actively supporting and raising money for the Teenage Cancer Trust South West Appeal. We are delighted to announce that as a result of our efforts we have raised an incredible £17,000 and are delighted to receive the latest news from the charity:
“The South West’s first ever specialist unit for young people with cancer was opened by Teenage Cancer Trust Patron Sarah, Duchess of York and world snooker players Judd Trump and Jack Lisowski on 17th June 2014.
Thanks to fundraising support from the local community, including almost £17,000 raised by SACO, Teenage Cancer Trust reached our target of £2.5 million to open this new eight bed unit. Named ‘Area 61’ by the patients and taking ten months to build, the state-of-the-art unit gives 16 – 24 year olds from across the South West the very best chance of a positive outcome from cancer.
Thank you so much for all of your fantastic support in helping us reach our fundraising goal and provide this amazing facility for young people with cancer right here in our region. Find out more about the unit and see some more photos here. We could not have done this without you.
We still need your support more than ever, to keep the unit running, to fund our specialist staff who provide the very best care and support to young people with cancer and to continue to deliver our free cancer awareness sessions in schools across the region. In order to do this we need to raise £1,000 a day, every day in the South West.
We’re delighted that SACO are continuing to support Teenage Cancer Trust this year and it sounds like there will be lots of great fundraising ideas and events to come."
